For the Coupon Divas & Fashion Week Wrap-Up…

Greetings Fashionistas….

As you know New York Fashion Week is sadly coming to an end….. Initially my plans were to take my Tres Chic Style fashionistas along with me for the fabulous ride but a hectic schedule, standing room only crowds not to mention mommyhood put all those things to rest.

I managed to snag a few photos from the Baby Phat Show Tuesday night. The signature “Fabulosity” was definately toned down to reflect the sluggish economy.

Kimora seemed really in touch with the retail landscape and her denim and reday to wear apparel dominated the runway.

Fashion Week Update…..

As previously reported, Kimora Lees Simmons will be unveiling her Baby Phat Fall ‘09 collection this Tuesday. This year Kimora’s giving her fans an insiders look into what goes on backstage at one of her shows. Baby Phat will be doing a live Twitter feed from backstage at the Baby Phat show Tuesday, February 17, 2009 from 7:00 pm – 9:00 pm.

Fashionista’s will be able to log on to www.twitter.com/babyphat and get a “backstage pass” to find out what goes on behind the scenes at one of the most fabulous shows of the year!

Fashion Week Day 4…..

The glamorous creations of Jill Stuart & Tracey Reese sashayed down the runways at Bryant Park today. Making for quite the star-studded front row, Kim Kardashian and Reggie Bush teamed up with the Hilton sisters at the Tracy Reese show.

Tracy Reese’s runway was filled with her signature, mostly easy-to-wear frocks and some excellent pants as well.
Models adorned black thigh highs, some knitted caps and a few donned the of-the-moment nerdy eyeglasses. This show was dedicated to Tracey’s mom, Patricia, who passed away last week. Her front row seat sat empty with a bouquet of flowers resting on it.

Looking forward to…….Season four Project Runway winner Christian Siriano will show in Bryant Park on Thursday marking his first time with his own collection in the tents.

Chic Fashion News & Tips….

Greetings Fashionistas…..

Today marks the beginning of New York Mercedes Benz Fashion Week (Fall 2009).

There are definitely signs of a recession in the tents this year. Fabulosity Queen & Fashion Magnate Kimora Lee Simmons has decided to tone down the glitz this season for her Baby Phat collection.

For years, the Baby Phat Show has been the finale of New York Fashion Week. The shows are normally packed with celebrities and about 1,600 guests who cram into venues like the Roseland Ballroom (last year) to snag a glimpse of Kimora’s latest creations.

This season front row A-Lister’s like Jamie-Lynn Sigler, Mya, Ivanna Trump, Chudney Ross, Star Jones, Nick Cannon, Mary J Blige and Lisa Gastineau will have to get their rock star glam on at another show…….The party is over!!!

According to published reports, Kimora felt “Now’s not the time to be running all over and flaunting the money that we don’t have,” Ms. Simmons says. “Now’s not the time to have all these people come to the show who are coming because they’re your best friends — the people who need to be there are the buyers who need to see the clothes, the editors.”

Other Designers like Marc Jacobs and Proenza Schouler have reportedly cut back their guest lists this year and others such as Vera Wang and Monique Lhuillier have opted for low-key presentations instead of big runway shows.

Ms. Tres Chic will be skipping the tents today and will head into the city for tomorrow’s Barbie™ Runway Show at 3pm. Uber fashion plate Barbie™ is celebrating her 50th on the Fashion Week runway. 50 designers will produce life-size outfits inspired by Barbie.

Fashion Week fever is here and I’ll do my best to take you along for the ride with up-to-the-minute news, photos and reports.

Sex and the City Sequel Confirmed…

Break out the bubbly…..

Sex and the City 2 will hit theaters in 2010 according to confirmed reports. The stars of the series, Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall, Kristin Davis and Cynthia Nixon have all signed on for the sequel. There’s no start date yet for the sequel but they don’t want to keep us waiting….. Insiders are stating shooting will begin as early as this summer.

Quick recap in case you were hiding under a rock when the movie premiered…..
When we last left Carrie, she married Mr. Big even after he left her humiliated at the altar. Samantha and her young beau Smith Jared split, while Miranda and Steve patched things up after he cheated on her. Charlotte and Harry not only adopted cute baby girl Lilly, but Charlotte gave birth to a second daughter.

Spring Trend Report 2009…

While fashion insiders and writers are still compiling the “Best of Spring 2009″, I’ve decided to share a few Spring 2009 trends were highlighted at New York Fashion Week last season.

Some are my favorites…….others, we’ll just wait and see what happens in the months ahead!

Bow bodice dresses translated into new looks from playful & demure chic to glamorous & sophisticated.

An explosion of ethnic patterns and abstract illustrations

Jumpsuits may be a trend we’ll all buy into….

The blazer’s replaced the cardigan…..

Oversized, and definitely not uptight, the idea of throwing a blazer over your shoulders come Spring and Summer ‘09 is something fashionistas may want to incorporate into their look.

Isaac’s Last Fling at Target….

We broke the sad news in January about the departure of the Isaac Mizrahi line at Target. Amidst speculation, Mizrahi was heading over to Liz Claiborne as the head designer. The final collection is on the racks right now. There’s still time to snag a few coveted pieces like this one, and this one.

The Limited…Finally On-Line!

Believe it or not, but it’s 2008 and many retailer’s have yet to embrace the e-commerce marketplace. Our friends at The Limited recently unveiled their new website that will allow busy fashionista’s to take a peek at new arrivals and even shop versus heading out to the mall.

The much anticipated launch took place on September 18, of this year. This new e-commerce website is an exciting addition to The Limited’s offering of high-quality, private-label apparel designed to help the modern woman to succeed. The site will carry a full selection of in-store apparel, as well as extended sizes, an outfitting guide, and a store locator.

After becoming independent from Limited Brands Incorporated in 2007, the creation of an e-commerce site was one of The Limited’s first major business objectives. As we bid farewell to summer, September marks the beginning of the Spring/Summer 09 fashion show season in New York City. I am so ready to take a break from the political hoopla (my other 9-5) and indulge in a little fashion!

• Mercedes Benz Fashion Week September 5th-12th

As we fashionistas juggle the facets of our demanding careers, family life and our obsession with the pretty things in life, let us take a moment and focus on a few of lifes simple treasures…….

• Make Time for your Girlfriends: In the midst of a hectic schedule like yours, (do the words `sllloooow dooown’ seem fitting?) it’s easy to put creature comforts last. Make your girlfriends a priority and you will be amazed at how much more sane you feel. It’s true, there are not enough hours in a day, but if you can squeeze in a visit with your favorite sister friends everything will be right with the world. Plus, you’ll be reminded that life is not just about work.
• Allow Yourself One Frivolous Purchase a Week: Whether it’s a lavender bar of soap you don’t need, a ridiculously priced frappuccino from your local Starbucks or a low cut blouse that goes perfectly with that new bracelet you bought on sale downtown, it’ll give you a sense of renewal that helps fend off stress and depression. They call it retail therapy for a reason you know. Isn’t there a saying about that: “a diamond a day keeps the doctor….” Oh well, close enough.
• Give Yourself a Pedicure: You’re already sitting in front of the TV watching “Project Runway” with your feet up on the table; why not soak them in soothing Epsom salts, and paint your toesies? Even as the Fall season is fast approaching and your feet are covered in (designer) boots, at least YOU will know what lurks underneath, and it’ll make you smile all day long.
• Talk on the Phone: Call up a girlfriend you haven’t spoken to in a while just to say hello. You will brighten her day, and possibly inspire your own. Plus you will be reminded there are people out there who care about you.
• Read: There’s nothing more soothing than curling up in your favorite chair, or bathtub with a good book, (especially if it’s accompanied by soft jazz and some Godiva) Whether it’s the latest New Yorker, Elle or a printout from your favorite Tres Chic Style post. Reading is one of the greatest escapes of all time because you can stop at any time, it costs nothing but time, and it’s a great way to inspire new ideas.
• Dress Up and Take Yourself to Dinner: There is nothing more empowering than dining alone. Wear your favorite stilettos, little black dress and play around with new make-up looks before you go. Head to the bar and sit sipping your favorite drink, taking in the atmosphere. Some of the world’s greatest thinkers came up with brilliant ideas while dining alone. Who says you aren’t next? (Then again, if the bartender is cute, he might just inspire some good ideas too…)
• Organize Girlfriend Get-Togethers on a Regular Basis: It can be for coffee, dinner, a walk, or a cry, but no matter what, make sure to foster good friendships in your life. Friends are a reflection of the person you are, so make sure they are good ones. After all, without them, life would be pretty empty (especially when it comes to shopping).
