Tres Chic Style 2009 Oscar Report…

Thank you to everyone who tuned in for my Live Oscar Blogging last night. I had so much fun… I’d also like to thank my loyal readers on Facebook for your comments and questions. I actually made it through the whole show….around 11:00pm my adrenalin was slowing down but my lovely fashionistas kept me going. Thanks Guys…

First of all I thought Hugh Jackman was the best host in years!!! Many congrats to Miss Kate Winslet and the entire cast of Slumdog Millionaire for their historic Oscar sweep. I just keep saying to myself…Those kids are so cute!!!
For a list of winners, click here.
Now for my favorite (Natalie Portman, pictured above) & least favorite looks of the evening…….

By now most of my loyal Tres Chic Style fashionistas already know Sarah Jessica Parker can do no wrong in my book when it comes to fashion…. The sultry fashionista sashayed her fabulous self on the red carpet in Dior. Simply Stunning!!!

Jessica Biel on the red carpet in strapless ivory satin Prada. Reminded me of Eva Mende’s gown for the Globes last month. Well…kinda sort of…. You be the judge!

Even the hair was awful…Did she do that herself on her way there in the limo???

Where are your accessories Beyonce???? This look was very mature and missing some Gold jewelry….. the messy ponytail and barely there make-up was not an Oscar look to love!

Marion Cotillard also donned Dior and had us all taking a double take…. Very similar to SJP’s look.

My absolute favorite of the evening…. Penelope Cruz in vintage Pierre Balmain. Ms. Cruz stole the show with this one and even took Oscar home with her!!!

I’ve been receiving so many emails and comments about this one… Lil’ Miss Miley Cyrus arrived in a Zuhair Murad dress with a sparkly v-neck bodice and tiered “asparagus -like” skirt. This look reminds me of a debutante or cotillion gown. Not too sure how I really feel about the look but I personally believe it’s too mature for this teen starlet. I would have loved to see her in something shorter and fun with a pop of color…..

(sucking my teeth on this one) Now didn’t we warn celebs about paying tribute to Oscar by looking like one…. Breakout actress Viola Davis obviously missed the memo that Gold lame is a no-no at the Oscars. I think Beyonce tried it one year and the results were disastrous (at least in the world of fashion).

Best supporting actress nominee Taraji P. Henson wears a white tiered gown by Roberto Cavalli and jewels by Fred Leighton. We’ve been seeing a lot of ms. Henson these days with all the Oscar buzz. Her signature bob and delicate make-up are her signature look. Although I loved the look, I thought we’d see a dramatic look for the Oscars, possibly an up-do or extensions. Nonetheless, Missy rocked it…..

Angelina Jolie chose a stunning design by Elie Saab adorned with Lorraine Schwartz jewelry. Very classic Hollywood….Simple yet sexy…Love it!

Now the say something nice challenge…… Honestly I almost forgot about Alicia Keys in “Secret Life of Bees”. Initially I was wondering why was she there?? Anyhoo back to the fashion….Question: Is Tina Knowles her stylist? This look definitely reminds me of Beyonce. The dramatic side split, wig and make-up…. A fan of both celebs but I wished Alicia could have played it a bit more natural. As many of you know I absoultely adore wigs…but this is by far not one of my favorites!!!! By the way, she’s wearing Armani Prive, loved the gown but hated the hair and make-up….

Not a fan of Heidi Klum’s red architectural gown by Roland Mouret…There said it!!! Many fashionista’s and critics were gushing over this edgy meets glam look. I loved the shoes but couldn’t appreciate the complexity of the gown. An up-close view of her accessories revealed heavy baubles, chains and bangles. Geesh!

Kate Winslet wore Atelier Yves Saint Laurent by Stefano Pilati. Her charcoal grey/black ensemble reminded me of Old Hollywood Glamour! Hepburn would be proud….. With Chopard jewels and perfectly coiffed hair Kate was a winner on the carpet and inside the Kodak theater.

As you can see, I enjoyed the Oscars last night…. What did you think??? Leave your comments at the end of this post or email me, here. I’d love to hear from you….

Break out the bubbly…..

Sex and the City 2 will hit theaters in 2010 according to confirmed reports. The stars of the series, Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall, Kristin Davis and Cynthia Nixon have all signed on for the sequel. There’s no start date yet for the sequel but they don’t want to keep us waiting….. Insiders are stating shooting will begin as early as this summer.

Quick recap in case you were hiding under a rock when the movie premiered…..
When we last left Carrie, she married Mr. Big even after he left her humiliated at the altar. Samantha and her young beau Smith Jared split, while Miranda and Steve patched things up after he cheated on her. Charlotte and Harry not only adopted cute baby girl Lilly, but Charlotte gave birth to a second daughter.

So what do you think should happen next? Stay tuned…..

Guess Who’s Back…..

Our favorite fashionista has returned back to her fabulous self. Last week Ms. B gave her alter ego, Sasha Fierce a few days off. She was seen tinkering about Tinseltown and New York City promoting her new film Cadillac Records.

Sex And The City Reviews…..

The Manolo Blahnik vixens of Sex And The City sashayed their way info cinematic fashion history over the weekend. Bringing an eclectic mix of fashion imagery, charm, wit and the overwhelming bond of friendship.

Through love, laughter and tears the fashionable foursome delivered stellar performances. Oscar winner Jennifer Hudson discovered true love and the promises that it brings. I left with misty eyes, a profound appreciation of true friendship and the belief that true love is possible…..even for me.

Bye…Bye Blue Jeans….

Feminine Dresses and Sexy Stilettos are here to stay as we bid farewell to blue jeans. Due largely in part to the fashion imagery in Sex And The City. Fashionistas are opting for flirty dresses in lieu of the popular Girl’s Night Out ensemble comprised of a cutesy top and tight jeans. Style maven Pat Field has allowed us to embrace our femininity with so much style & grace. Pat is an artist and visionary who’s brilliant work inspired a new culture of fashionistas.

We are forever indebted to her for her wisdom, whimsy and ornate ability to create a fashion fantasy…….

Before you hit Madison Ave. or Rodeo Drive, take look at how you can get the actual looks of Sex And The City.
Dresses are a girl’s best friend. In an earlier post, I detailed how women of every shape and size can find their perfect dress. I have an admiration for dresses and skirts. As a busy mommy dresses are so easy to slip on. With a 5:00am start, I have little time to iron, steam or press. I own a ridiculous amount of dresses (I think I only own two pairs of pants (excluding jeans) so choosing is never hard. Paired with a fabulous shoe, statement accessories and a hot handbag, I’m literally out the door……

Maggy London Printed Silk Dress worn by Miranda in the movie. This graphic silk twill dress is perfect for any body type and I’ll give you an update when mine arrives………Dillards, $150

Embrace color…..Have fun with accessories this season. The days of boring black handbags are so over. I’ve never carried black handbags in the boutique, well maybe a fab patent tote here and there. I’ve loved color since childhood. I went through the black clothing faze in college and it was Boring! Try a chic tote in a spalshy hue for summer and just watch the difference it makes with your total look .

Simple black and brown pumps have been replaced with a myriad of designer beauties. Stilettos are a fashionistas shoe of choice and retailers like Nine West and Steve Madden have made it so easy to replicate a designer look. Shoes can literally make or break an outfit. One of the hottest trends of the season is this must-have gladiator sandal (pictured above) with buckle detailed ankle straps on 4″ wedge heel. Too Hot! Heech Sandal Nine West, $89

Cinch It…. Grab a belt and watch the styleometer hit an all time high. Pat Field creative utilization of belts can be seen throughout the film. Belts are great for creating an hourglass illusion on any body type. Find the best ones at Designer Discount Retailers like Marshalls or TJ Maxx.

Accessories Make The World Go Round…….. Did you know the accessories market has reached an all time high? The sales of handbags, shoes, and jewelry are constantly increasing. Retailers are redefinig their brands through the overwhelming presence of accessories. Have you taken a look at the main floor at Macy’s lately? Accessories own the entire sales floor. Begin to define your personal style with the seasons hottest accessories. Nordstrom is my all time favorite retailer for fashion jewelry.

Lastly, master the art of being feminine and fabulous. Have fun with fashion by embracing your inner quirkiness. Take a risk on the season’s best floral ensembles and pair it with the sexiest pair of sandals you can find. At the end of the day it’s all about you and your quest to looking undeniably sexy and fabulous!!!

Smooches,

Kishana……..

Sex and the City is Finally Here……

Many fashionistas hit theatres last night at midnight to get their first glimpse at the most anticipated movie of the year. Fellow bloggers and fashionistas have declared the film 2 hours and 20 minutes of pure fashion genius. Due to scheduling conflicts and mommy duties I’ll be missing opening day (can you believe it), but I already have my tickets for Saturday evening. I’ll be taking my lil‘ sister Linda. She’s not a big SATC fan but she’s 16 years old, loves fashion and hardly ever passes up on anything free………

Just thought I’d post some chic tips to get your Sexy weekend started……..

  • Check out the official Sex and the City Myspace page. Not only do they have some fab photos but you can get literally Carried Away with the wallpapers, screen savers, soundtrack snippets, message boards and more…….
  • Do plan a Sex and the City weekend with your girlfriends. Catch the movie with your favorite fashionistas. Channel your inner Charlotte with a fabulous dress and cutesy flats or up the ante and wear your sexy stilettos and your favorite black dress and let the Samantha in you shine……..
  • Have a Girl’s Night Out……. Get your favorite seasons on DVD and plan a night of Cosmos and Girl Talk.
  • Lastly…..Shopping!

Many call New York the 5th character in the movie, but I think it’s the clothes. The fiery ensembles bring fashion imagery to life. Here’s a few tips to assist you in transforming your wardrobe into the ultimate Sex and the City Closet.

Mix High and Low
Master the art of mixing flea market finds with designer pieces. Pair that $5 Forever 21 Tank with your favorite designer jeans and stilettos. Add a vintage purse from the Brooklyn Flea and feel like a million bucks…….

It’s all in the Shoes
Toss the Birkenstocks and opt for sky-high stilettos, mules and pumps. Forgo stockings and let those bronzed beauties shine. Remember the tools of shopping High and Low. While Manolo’s and Jimmy Choos may suit our fantasies, Zappos, Endless and Nordstrom may be our shoe realities.

Dress The Lastest Trends & Toss The Old Ones

Rehaul your closet and retain the timeless pieces. Don’t be afraid to toss last season’s bohemian skirts. After all Carrie would never be caught rockin‘ last years trends. Subscribe to your favorite fashion magazines and tune in to Tres Chic Style religiously.

Shopping Guide

Richard Tyler, Jimmy Choo, Dolce & Gabbana, Dior and Chanel are just some of the SATC favorite designer labels. You too can shop like Carrie or Charlotte and still have change for a cosmo.

I had the pleasure of meeting the two dynamic fashionistas behind ReDress at the Brooklyn Flea the other weekend. Redress plans to revolutionize the Vintage apparel market by becoming the first plus size vintage boutique in New York City. Their pieces are amazing……Fun, Quirky and sure to make ya feel Sexy……

Monif C.– the first contemporary, sexy, trendy designer boutique for plus size fashionistas.

Sex and the City……

Just One More Day Till…….Sex and the City!

Check out the soundtrack Here.

The wait is just about over……..
Sex and the City will debut in theaters and our fashion fantasies will be renewed in just two short days!

Last night the phenomenal cast, crew, devoted celebrity & non-celebrity fans and paparazzi descended in New York City for the star studded NY Premiere at Radio City Music Hall. Miss Tres Chic Syle missed an invite to this monumental event (thanks to the unprofessional folks over at New Line).

This is what it looked like last night at the premiere. Many waited in line for up to 4 hours.

Celeb blogger Perez Hilton even speaks about how 2,000 people never made it in the premiere despite being ticket holders (Yikes). 2,000 fashionistas on the streets of New York with nowhere to go due to a ticket snafu….. The New York Daily News reports an angry crowd ensuing on the corner of Sixth Avenue and 51st St. last night surging against police barricades, cursing and stomping their Manolo Blahniks. (and it was raining!!!!)

Anyhoo despite the theatrics and my personal gripes with New Line Cinema, I had to post some photos of the ladies on the Pink Carpet.

Sarah Jessica Parker hit the Pink Carpet in her metallic slate grey ensemble by Nina Ricci complemented with dazzling Fred Leighton jewels. Designers were lining up months ago to dress this fashionista (some even willing to pay her).

Kim Cattrall channeled her alter ego Samantha in a snazzy Vivienne Westwood cocktail dress and some pumps that would even make Kristopher Dukes jealous.

What the hell was Cynthia Nixon thinking?? This Lil’ Bo Peep frock was my least favorite of the night. The sweeping length Narciso Rodriguez gown and un-coiffed mane really distracts the overall look. Reminds me of a David’s Bridal designer knock-off…Did you peep her white sandals peeking underneath the gown?

Kristin Davis really missed the mark on this one. Her Manolo Blahnik black peep-toe pumps are very simple and understated. A strappy stiletto works well on a Red Carpet. Her Donna Karan gold lame tu-tu look confuses me not to mention the strain it’s putting on my eyes.

These ladies were supposed to bring it at the US Premiere. I’ve seen this cast look better on their Talk Show rounds the last few weeks. These looks are not my favorites and did not meet my expectations at all. I’ve been raving about these fashionistas like forever and a day and they have the audacity to disappoint when it really counts…..

Here’s a few photos of some other Fashion Hit’s & Misses, You be the Judge…….

Jennifer Hudson manages to give us more cleavage than we needed to see, while Mary Kate opted for over sized trousers and a boxy jacket (Is that supposed to be a statement). Our favorite Project Runway contestant ever Christian Siriano glammed it up in his rendition of Elvis in the City……

Sex And The City Style File….

We all have our favorite SATC girl, who can possibly forgo the fashion forward Carrie Bradshaw or the preppy socialite ensembles preferred by Charlotte. Samantha (Kim Cattrall) is the ultimate sex kitten with style. Her playful experimentation with accessories and splashy hues makes her our very own fashionista of the day……..

Told ya’ she was fabulous……

Sex and the City credits style maven Pat Field with the wardrobe selections for the film but we think Samantha personifies her signature style with ease.

Miranda has proven herself to be a true fashionista…

Not many fashionistas could pull this 80’s look off, but Samantha manages to keep the look fresh and modern.
