Tres Chic Style 2009 Oscar Report…

Thank you to everyone who tuned in for my Live Oscar Blogging last night. I had so much fun… I’d also like to thank my loyal readers on Facebook for your comments and questions. I actually made it through the whole show….around 11:00pm my adrenalin was slowing down but my lovely fashionistas kept me going. Thanks Guys…

First of all I thought Hugh Jackman was the best host in years!!! Many congrats to Miss Kate Winslet and the entire cast of Slumdog Millionaire for their historic Oscar sweep. I just keep saying to myself…Those kids are so cute!!!

Now for my favorite (Natalie Portman, pictured above) & least favorite looks of the evening…….

By now most of my loyal Tres Chic Style fashionistas already know Sarah Jessica Parker can do no wrong in my book when it comes to fashion…. The sultry fashionista sashayed her fabulous self on the red carpet in Dior. Simply Stunning!!!

Jessica Biel on the red carpet in strapless ivory satin Prada. Reminded me of Eva Mende’s gown for the Globes last month. Well…kinda sort of…. You be the judge!

Even the hair was awful…Did she do that herself on her way there in the limo???

Where are your accessories Beyonce???? This look was very mature and missing some Gold jewelry….. the messy ponytail and barely there make-up was not an Oscar look to love!

Marion Cotillard also donned Dior and had us all taking a double take…. Very similar to SJP’s look.

My absolute favorite of the evening…. Penelope Cruz in vintage Pierre Balmain. Ms. Cruz stole the show with this one and even took Oscar home with her!!!

I’ve been receiving so many emails and comments about this one… Lil’ Miss Miley Cyrus arrived in a Zuhair Murad dress with a sparkly v-neck bodice and tiered “asparagus -like” skirt. This look reminds me of a debutante or cotillion gown. Not too sure how I really feel about the look but I personally believe it’s too mature for this teen starlet. I would have loved to see her in something shorter and fun with a pop of color…..

(sucking my teeth on this one) Now didn’t we warn celebs about paying tribute to Oscar by looking like one…. Breakout actress Viola Davis obviously missed the memo that Gold lame is a no-no at the Oscars. I think Beyonce tried it one year and the results were disastrous (at least in the world of fashion).

Best supporting actress nominee Taraji P. Henson wears a white tiered gown by Roberto Cavalli and jewels by Fred Leighton. We’ve been seeing a lot of ms. Henson these days with all the Oscar buzz. Her signature bob and delicate make-up are her signature look. Although I loved the look, I thought we’d see a dramatic look for the Oscars, possibly an up-do or extensions. Nonetheless, Missy rocked it…..

Angelina Jolie chose a stunning design by Elie Saab adorned with Lorraine Schwartz jewelry. Very classic Hollywood….Simple yet sexy…Love it!

Now the say something nice challenge…… Honestly I almost forgot about Alicia Keys in “Secret Life of Bees”. Initially I was wondering why was she there?? Anyhoo back to the fashion….Question: Is Tina Knowles her stylist? This look definitely reminds me of Beyonce. The dramatic side split, wig and make-up…. A fan of both celebs but I wished Alicia could have played it a bit more natural. As many of you know I absoultely adore wigs…but this is by far not one of my favorites!!!! By the way, she’s wearing Armani Prive, loved the gown but hated the hair and make-up….

Not a fan of Heidi Klum’s red architectural gown by Roland Mouret…There said it!!! Many fashionista’s and critics were gushing over this edgy meets glam look. I loved the shoes but couldn’t appreciate the complexity of the gown. An up-close view of her accessories revealed heavy baubles, chains and bangles. Geesh!

Kate Winslet wore Atelier Yves Saint Laurent by Stefano Pilati. Her charcoal grey/black ensemble reminded me of Old Hollywood Glamour! Hepburn would be proud….. With Chopard jewels and perfectly coiffed hair Kate was a winner on the carpet and inside the Kodak theater.

Oscar Night Blogging….

Greetings Fashionistas…..

The clock is ticking and in just 6 short hours, Oscar will make it’s 81st Annual debut for all the world to see….

This year, Tres Chic Style will host a Live Blogging Chat Room. It’s a unique chat room where Tres Chic Style fashionistas are invited to join us to dish about your favorite or least favorite looks of the evening.

ABC’s “Oscars Red Carpet 2009” coverage runs from 8:00pm to 8:30 p.m. EST, with Robin Roberts and Tim Gunn doing the gushing, with the actual awards show to begin at 8:30pm.

Ryan Seacrest and Giuliana Rancic will cover celebrity arrivals on E! ‘s “Live From the Red Carpet” from 6-8 p.m., The TV Guide channel also will be on the red carpet from 6 to 8 p.m., with “Live at the Academy Awards” with Lisa Rinna and Joey Fatone hosting.

The Short & Sassy Side of Fashion…..

Tinseltown beauties have replaced sweeping floor length gowns with short & sassy cocktail dresses this Awards season. A myriad of color, ruffles and adornments have taken center stage on the carpets.

Kim Kardashian looked quite enchanting in this dreamy chiffon ensemble…..

Letoya Luckett hit the carpet in a sassy fuchsia embellished cocktail dress. Letoya definitely gets the “I’m trying to be different award”, opting for an exotic python clutch and mint green pumps…..

Kate Perry rocked Lebanese designer Basil Soda in this pink ruffled embellished dress. Simply over-the-top glamour….

Lil Ashley Banks (Tatyana Ali) missed some fashion advice from Big Sis Hillary (Karen Parson) on this one……. The Bronze flapper style dress swallows her petite frame and the sweater has left me absolutely speechless!

We love Jennifer Hudson, applaud her talent and are motivated by her courageous comeback but we hate her Stylist! Once again she steps out in an ill-fitted ensemble accompanied with hideous accessories (did anybody peep that silver handbag when she gave her acceptance speech)

Solange Knowles once agin showed us she is not a slave to fashion. Donning a demure yelllow mini dress and a colorful handbag over her shoulder, Solange has proven she’s truly her own stylist……Sidenote: Where was Beyonce last night????

Louis Vuitton Speedy with Rose ($1,310)

The verdict’s still out on the Louis Vuitton Stephen Sprouse handbag collection. This Louis Vuitton classic is revisited in fluorescent Monogram Graffiti canvas inspired by late American artist Stephen Sprouse.

As part of Louis Vuitton’s commitment to Sprouse’s work, the house will also make a donation to the National Academy of Design – Stephen Sprouse Scholarship Fund to mark the launch of the collection.

The collection hit stores January 9th and is expected to be a must-have for Spring and Summer 09′.

Will the Real Beyone Please Stand Up….

While Tres Chic Style continuously admires the iconic style of R&B diva Beyonce we’ve been shaking our head lately at her new look. Embodying her “Sasha Fierce” alter ego the songstress has traded her signature fab swagger for a punk-meets -couture look. I miss the days of big hair, over-the-top accessories and signature Mama Tina seal of approval of approval ensembles.

Real Style: Lady O….

Bloggers and fashion critics alike have been flooding the Internet with reviews of First Lady Michelle Obama’s Election Night Dress. The Narcisco Rodriguez design is straight from his Spring 2008 collection and even debuted under the tents at Bryant Park this past September.

The dress had a splash of bright red across the front, offset with a crisscrossed black sash. Mrs. Obama paired it with a black cardigan, black kitten heels and diamond chandelier earrings and a bracelet.

Miss Tres Chic has been celebrating the monumental event in History since Tuesday and hardly paying any attention to the fashion hoopla surrounding her dress. That being said, I can’t wait to see some of the fashion choices Michelle Obama will dazzle us with. As a matter of fact I’m sure she’s probably chatting with stylist right now about her Inauguration ensembles.

Fashion Hits of the Week….

One of my favorite celebrity fashionistas’s rocked a conservative ensemble while tweaking it with her signature sexy sizzle…… This look is classic yet modern and would make a great alternative for the boring day-day office attire.

Fashion icon and R&B’s latest “It Girl” Rihanna hit the part scene in NY looking rather risque. Clad in a “peek-a-boo, yeah we see you” tank and Herve Leger skirt, Miss Rih Rih proves she is definitely a fashion force to be reckoned with………

Looks like Solange is stepping her style game up a bit…….. While out and about in London Solange once again displayed her creative side and unlike her latest video, we likes!!! Still holding on to the Mama Tina Creole Vibe, she pairs her electric blue Louboutins with a stylish Fendi bag and tangerine ruffle wrap dress for a fierce look. Work it Solange……

Toccara Jones is Hot & Single in the July Issue of Essence Magazine. I’m really loving this asymmetrical bob on Tocarra. Kudos to the stylist for a wonderful spread…. Simply Fab!!

Here’s a quick look at some fashion savvy celebs hitting the red carpets…… Teairra Mari graced the carpet in an interseting ensemble…. It’s cute but the verdicts still out on this one!

Look at Ms. Janet getting her Jackie O glam on at a runway show in Milan……. We are sooooo loving this look. It scerams sophistication, maturity and oh so fierce! Work it Miss Jackson!!!!

Dashing Divas and Reality Moguls Angela & Vanessa Simmons hit the carpet for the BET Awards Pre-Show hoopla. We are so loving Angela’s tangerine maxi dress and the headband gives it such a “Bo Ho Chic” effect. The girls are truly looking fab although we wish Vanessa would retire that Louis Vuitton handbag already….

Check out these double-mint twins on the carpet (just joking)….. Elise Neal & Regina King opted for the infamous asymmetrical bob and both looking quite lovely I might add. Elise’s choice of frock confuses us (and always does) while Regina donned a chic gown in the of-the moment lemon sorbet hue. This color is everywhere this season…. Marigold Sunflower, Honey Bee you name it yellow is reigning supreme!!
