The Weekend Guide….

With less than 72 hours to go, celebs are being prepped and primped for the *1st Annual Academy Awards. Tents have been erected on the Red Carpet in anticipation for rain. The Academy has even Oscar fans a step by step update of the evenings events. From the construction outside the Kodak theater right down to the decor and theme for the Governor’s Ball.

Obviously, I’ll be tuning in for the Red Carpet festivities hosted by ‘Project Runway’ style guru Tim Gunn and ‘Good Morning America’ anchor Robin Roberts. I absolutely adore Tim Gunn’s take on style and look forward to his take on Oscar looks. I’m not a huge fan of Robin Robert”s fashion sense or lack there of…. In the past few years we’ve seen her go from drab to fab before our very own eyes. Her signature close cropped mane as the result of her battle with cancer has created a buzz for the anchor in the fashion world.

Designer Gilles Mendel and Suze Yalof Schwartz, executive editor at large of Glamour magazine, joined Robin Roberts to help her pick out the perfect Oscar-worthy gown.

“Good Morning America” asked its viewers Wednesday to weigh in on Robin’s Oscar dress choices. More than 7,000 viewers lent their opinion for or against one of Robin’s final three dresses. The decision still has not been made and Robin still needs your help. Check out the dresses and vote here.

Red Carpet Must-Haves…. Part 1

In just 6 days everyone will be focused on the 81st Annual Oscars at the Kodak Theater in Los Angeles. Over the years, we’ve witnessed glorious red carpet triumphs as well as numerous red carpet fiascoes. With just a few days remaining until the broadcast, Tres Chic Style would like to congratulate all the nominees and dedicate an entire week of giving our readers a glimpse at some haute products celeb stylist rely on to assist their clients on The Red Carpet.

While full lips have been all the rage in Tinseltown the past few years, they have some sizable competition with the latest “It” accessory…..full luxorious lashes!

Many fashionistas denote their eyes as their best feature. We’ve spent countless dollars on high-end mascaras and lash applications. Lash extensions are unforgiving on the eyelashes amd tend to leave you with dry, brittle and damaged lashes. The fab folks at Lashfood have unveiled a natural conditioning stimulant guaranteed to enhance your lashes in just 2 to 4 weeks.

Lashfood is very similar to liquid eyeliner. For best results the makers advise you apply the serum morning and evening. I’m actually in my 2nd week and I’ve noticed a considerable difference in my sparse lashes. My lashes appear thicker and I can even apply it before my mascara application in the morning.

Best of all……Lashfood can also be used to improve thin, overplucked eybrows. The natural ingredients are safe and easy to apply to the root of the brows to stimulate hair growth.

Chic Fashion News & Tips….

Greetings Fashionistas…..
Today marks the beginning of New York Mercedes Benz Fashion Week (Fall 2009).
There are definitely signs of a recession in the tents this year. Fabulosity Queen & Fashion Magnate Kimora Lee Simmons has decided to tone down the glitz this season for her Baby Phat collection.
For years, the Baby Phat Show has been the finale of New York Fashion Week. The shows are normally packed with celebrities and about 1,600 guests who cram into venues like the Roseland Ballroom (last year) to snag a glimpse of Kimora’s latest creations.
This season front row A-Lister’s like Jamie-Lynn Sigler, Mya, Ivanna Trump, Chudney Ross, Star Jones, Nick Cannon, Mary J Blige and Lisa Gastineau will have to get their rock star glam on at another show…….The party is over!!!

According to published reports, Kimora felt “Now’s not the time to be running all over and flaunting the money that we don’t have,” Ms. Simmons says. “Now’s not the time to have all these people come to the show who are coming because they’re your best friends — the people who need to be there are the buyers who need to see the clothes, the editors.”

Other Designers like Marc Jacobs and Proenza Schouler have reportedly cut back their guest lists this year and others such as Vera Wang and Monique Lhuillier have opted for low-key presentations instead of big runway shows.

Smooches!

The Short & Sassy Side of Fashion…..

Tinseltown beauties have replaced sweeping floor length gowns with short & sassy cocktail dresses this Awards season. A myriad of color, ruffles and adornments have taken center stage on the carpets.

Here’s a few looks from last night’s Grammy’s in Los Angeles

Kim Kardashian looked quite enchanting in this dreamy chiffon ensemble…..

Letoya Luckett hit the carpet in a sassy fuchsia embellished cocktail dress. Letoya definitely gets the “I’m trying to be different award”, opting for an exotic python clutch and mint green pumps…..

Kate Perry rocked Lebanese designer Basil Soda in this pink ruffled embellished dress. Simply over-the-top glamour….

Now for the say something nice challenge……. Sorry I can’t!

Lil Ashley Banks (Tatyana Ali) missed some fashion advice from Big Sis Hillary (Karen Parson) on this one……. The Bronze flapper style dress swallows her petite frame and the sweater has left me absolutely speechless!

We love Jennifer Hudson, applaud her talent and are motivated by her courageous comeback but we hate her Stylist! Once again she steps out in an ill-fitted ensemble accompanied with hideous accessories (did anybody peep that silver handbag when she gave her acceptance speech)

Solange Knowles once agin showed us she is not a slave to fashion. Donning a demure yelllow mini dress and a colorful handbag over her shoulder, Solange has proven she’s truly her own stylist……Sidenote: Where was Beyonce last night????

Spring Fashion…Part Deux!

Spring is well on it’s way and accessories add that special touch to your wardrobe. My favorite accessory after shoes is Jewelry…it’s timeless, fun and can always add a lil’ something extra when you need it. Stylist often profess their admiration for jewelry and often encourage clients to always leave the house wearing at least one of their favorite pieces.
Jewelry is a gret convesration piece! Here’s a few must-haves to get you talking this Spring….

Diamond Studs (my wardrobe staple) These babies can take you into day or night with ease. Real of Faux…doesn’t really matter!

Hoops, Snag a pair in gold and silver and you’ll never put’em down…..Hoop earrings are playful and can be quite sophisticated when paired with a neat chignon.

Statement Cocktail Rings add a little life to the party…….The splashy jewel tones incorporate well into a Spring palette.

Bangle Bracelets and Cuffs are must-have accessories for Spring. Look at Drew…Need I say anymore???

2009…The Haute Collection….

Vibrant hues with ultra feminine details will rule the fashion scene this Spring. Intricate details and over-the-top glamour will usher in a new era of style. We’ve returned to the golden days of fashion with all it’s lady-like trappings. Spring is here and she’s oh…so fabulous…..

First Lady Obama Brings Style to The White House…

We’ve all been watching Michelle Obama’s style choices since the campaign trail and beyond… Fashionista’s have watched her don classic designers and even bestow overnight success to undiscovered talent. Looks like our First Lady brings a lot more than her gorgeous looks, Harvard law degree and all American charm to the White House. This fashionista brings style grace….and a keen sense of fashion.

When the First Lady stepped out of the White House yesterday morning donning a lemongrass dress/coat ensemble bloggers, writers and fashion critics alike took notice to her stunning look.

Mrs. Obama’s ceremony ensemble was designed by Cuban born designer Isabel Toledo. Toledo has been designing under her own name for 20 years in New York and was briefly the creative director for Anne Klein.

For the Inaugural balls, Obama chose a creamy one-shouldered gown by 26-year-old Taiwanese American designer Jason Wu. The one-shouldered style was utterly sexy, and the powdery hue was on-trend reminiscent of the Golden Globes.

A bevy of delicate Swarovski Crystal bangles graced her arms….

We totally loved both looks, what did you think???

And The Worst in Fashion for 2008….

Though Tres Chic Style prides ourselves in delivering you the best in fashion, beauty and celebrity news, from time to time we must give you a lil’ taste of the not-so-chic too!

Here’s a brief rundown for 2008…..

Mary Kate confused us with this look….

That’s so Raven star Raven Simone never looked at a mirror before donning this catastrophe…

Solange never ceases to amaze her with her dramatic looks….

2009 promises to be yet another fabulous year filled with the best in fashion that spans the globe.

We’ve watched Beyonce transform into Sasha….Rihanna evolve into a style icon….. Mary J keep it stylish and chic and we’ve also had the privilege of watching a few train wrecks take center stage (who shall remain nameless)….

Here’s a brief re-cap of some of the Best Looks…..

Beyonce hitting the stage in on GMA in New York with a spandex catsuit…..

Kimora & Djimon are true fashion hits for the 08’………………..

The Kardsashian sisters always mange to sizzle on the fashion scene….

Rihanna…The Style Icon!!!
